Entry Level Positions at Fisher Investments

The entry level positions typically available at Fisher Investments fall into two  categories – the Account Executive role and Associate Positions. Often new campus recruits are looking to start their career focused on one skill set. Sometimes this can be very research focused, operational in nature, or even client/prospective client facing. Determining which role fits the desired skill set can at times be difficult to do. Following you will find some brief summaries of these roles to better help distinguish which each has to offer.

Account Executive

The Account Executive position represents a significant opportunity for career-minded individuals looking for an exciting financial services career. Account Executives are responsible for contacting potential clients who have made inquiries to Fisher Investments (this is not a cold calling position), discussing their wealth management objectives, and identifying how Fisher Investments may better help them in the pursuit of their goals.

Investment Associate

Fisher Investments offers campus recruits a variety of associate-level positions throughout the firm. The opportunities listed below are examples of some of these roles.

Client Services Associate (CSA) Member of the Client Operations Group
The core role of a CSA: CSAs serve as a liaison between Fisher Investments, their clients, and custodians to establish and fund accounts for new clients and to service operational requests for existing clients. CSAs work with custodians to coordinate and monitor the transfer of assets and to facilitate service requests. They work closely with employees in Client Services and other internal departments to ensure clients receive world-class service. Additionally, CSAs work on custodian and client-related projects.

Regional Sales Associate (RSA) Member of the Sales Operations Group
The core role of a RSA: RSAs act as an advocate and liaison for Fisher Investments outside sales professionals to provide support and internal resources. RSAs perform initial account evaluations for all new relationships. They research and analyze competitive products and firms and are involved in surface-level analysis of prospective client portfolios. RSAs work closely with Sales Management on a variety of projects for Sales Operations.

Portfolio Accounting Associate (PA) Member of the Investment Operations Group
The core role of a PA: PAs update, maintain, and reconcile data with client custodian and the Fisher Investments’ portfolio accounting system in order to ensure accurate reporting and portfolio management. They post and reconcile activity to portfolio systems using data from custodians and process capital flows in a timely and accurate manner. PAs troubleshoot and resolve issues in client accounts.

Portfolio Implementation Associate (PIA) Member of the Research Group
The core role of a PIA: PIAs create trade orders to implement recommended portfolios for new accounts and perform maintenance on existing accounts. They monitor exception reports to minimize individual account deviations. PIAs handle both cash additions and cash withdrawals and play an integral part in portfolio shifts.

Institutional Group Associate (IGA) Member of the Institutional Group
The core role of an IGA: IGAs work directly with Institutional Relationship Managers, institutional clients and consultants, national custodians and various internal departments to establish new intuitional accounts and to service existing accounts. They are responsible for resolving institutional account operational issues and overseeing the specialized requests of institutional clients. IGAs also design, produce, and coordinate the production of all marketing materials produced by the Institutional Group.
