IT Operations Engineer

The Opportunity:
As an IT Operations Engineer, you will report to the Infrastructure Systems Team Lead. You will work hands-on to manage our on-prem VMWare environment and will help improve our platforms. You will partner with engineers to ensure VMware hosts and guests are stable, secure, and compliant. You will learn and support automation efforts for both environments including the migration of systems from VMWare to Azure. This is a highly collaborative role and will require you to develop partnerships with teams inside and outside of technology.
The ability to work a flexible off-hours schedule for planned and unplanned maintenance is required.
The Day-to-Day:
- Oversee Infrastructure resources: VMware hosts, VM guests and other components
- Coordinate with Sr. Engineers to ensure that technology delivery meets policy, regulatory, architectural, and security standards
- Help deploy infrastructure including compute, OS, hypervisor, network, storage, database and security and the associated services across on premise and cloud backend
- Work with IT leaders and Project Managers to assist with resource planning, vendor assessment, and other tasks to provide technical expertise
- Provide technical escalation points for production support during normal business and off-hours
Your Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure & Operations
- 2+ years of experience in VMware management
- 1+ years of experience with Windows server patching and patch troubleshooting
- Experience with Ivanti patch management software
- Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell and Python
- Experience with operations and engineering delivery of multiple infrastructure technologies including systems, network, storage, compute, and digital workspace
- Familiarity with IaC and DevOps Automation concepts and a hunger to learn and implement IaC configurations
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Server technology stack including Active Directory, MS SQL, and Windows
- Knowledge of infrastructure concepts including compute, OS, hypervisor, network, storage, database, and security
- Associates degree or higher in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
