Job Description

Are you ready to open your career up to vast opportunities? Use your experience working with 401(k) plans, and take your career to the next level! Come and build something new—help Fisher Investments take its reputation and investment expertise into the small 401k plan space. 401k Solutions is already a leader within the retirement industry (Financial Times Top 401k Provider List, National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA) "Top Advisors" list for 2017), but we have incredible and attainable opportunities in front of us, especially amid new industry regulatory changes further allowing 4S to distinguish ourselves from our competition.

The Opportunity:

The 401k Solutions Investment Analyst will help support all facets of the investment strategy utilized by 401k Solutions and its clients, including support for the group’s adherence to the fiduciary process, investment policy statement creation, 401k investment menu analysis, ongoing fund monitoring and evaluation, and special research projects among other things. Through these responsibilities, you will learn best practices and strategies on investing within retirement plans. This includes a deep understanding of best-in-breed data investment software (fi360 and Morningstar), fund analysis (and their applicability within a larger fund line-up), fund operations, asset allocation, retirement plan types (401k, Defined Benefit, 403(b)) and the governing fiduciary process that drives our approach.

The Day to Day:

  • Understand ERISA-specific requirements for investments
  • Support the group’s adherence to the fiduciary process, including the creation of new investment policy statements, investment lineup construction, and monitoring the investments utilized by each plan
  • Partner with our recordkeepers on investment-related issues and platform enhancements
  • Perform fund and category analysis for potential use on 4S client investment fund line-ups
  • Assist in the creation of fi360 and Morningstar deliverables used in the sales and service process
  • Potentially meet with clients and prospects to discuss investment-focused questions and ideas
  • Prepare prospect investment menu evaluations and analysis to aide in the sales process through illustrating the merits of the Fisher proposed line-up and areas of concern of its current lineup
  • Idea generation and data support for investment-related sales and service collateral
  • Evaluation and implementation of new investment solutions (3rd party tools) and investment offerings (investment product types)
  • Investment project management
  • Creation and support of special research projects
  • Coordinate with FI Research and the IPC, when appropriate
  • Monitor and report on retirement-specific investment news

Your Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in an investment analysis capacity, with previous experience in the retirement industry preferred
  • Strong quantitative, data analysis, and analytical thinking skills
  • An interest in utilizing and learning about a broad spectrum of investment concepts
  • The ability to prioritize various tasks, cope with changes in daily workload and operate with several simultaneous deadlines
  • The ability to deal with ambiguity on assignments with autonomy and independence
  • Strong communication skills and are comfortable working with senior leadership within the group
  • Strong process orientation
  • A desire to be part of building a new business

Why Fisher Investments:

Fisher Investments is a different kind of investment firm. We don’t come from Wall Street, nor do we believe we fit in with most of the finance industry, and we’re proud of that. We work for a bigger purpose: bettering the investment universe. From unmatched service to innovative perspectives on investing, it’s the people that make the Fisher purpose possible. After all, it’s our people that enable us to offer the level of service that we do. And we invest in them accordingly, offering exceptional benefits like:

  • 100% coverage of premiums for health, vision and dental insurance
  • A 50% 401(k) match, up to the IRS maximum
  • 20 days of PTO*, plus 9 paid holidays
  • 8 week paid Primary Caregiver Parental Leave
  • And much, much more

We also provide a cumulative, continuous learning and development framework customized for every employee. This emphasis on personal and professional growth has yielded an award-winning work environment; we’re Great Place to Work Certified, and The Oregonian named us as a 2017 Top Workplace with the best benefits!

But in the end, it’s not the perks that keep people here. They stay because they believe in our mission of service—our employees want to make a difference in an industry that can do better.

* California employees accrue up to 17 days of PTO and 3 days of sick time per year.
