Portfolio Management

Job Description

Do you have a strong background in capital markets or equity research and analysis? If so, we would like to speak with you. We are a privately-held investment management firm who manages portfolios for high net worth private clients and some of the world’s preeminent institutions. We are now searching for highly talented finance and research-oriented professionals to join our team of Capital Markets Analysts in either our Woodside, CA or Portland, OR Metro Area offices. Capital Markets Analysts are responsible for macro-economic research and we are expanding our ESG research capabilities (Environmental, Social, and Governance).

The Opportunity
Capital Markets Analysts are responsible for macro-economic research, including bull vs. bear, sectors, countries, and styles (large vs. small, value vs. growth, etc). Analysts are assigned a global sector and country or region. This role includes ESG coverage to support the $20B currently managed by Fisher Investments across various ESG/SRI strategies (Environmental, Social, Governance and Socially Responsible Investing).  As an Analyst with ESG coverage, you will collaborate with the Securities Analyst, CMI Analyst, and two Capital Markets Analysts with ESG coverage to develop ESG research and marketing content. Critical thinking, problem solving, managing complexity, communication skills, proficiency in Excel, and the ability to learn on the fly are important in this position.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Summarizing news within your coverage areas along with identifying, analyzing, maintaining and processing data.
  • Creating empirical research on a regular basis concerning your sector, countries or region, and ESG themes and trends affecting financial markets. Over longer periods of time, sector and country coverages can be expected to rotate.
  • Writing Institutional White Papers and Market Minder articles, including ESG related pieces
  • Supporting internal Relationship Mangers, including the creation of client-facing content
  • Presenting ESG and firm research in Institutional meetings and PCG (Private Client Group) client events across the country

Your Qualifications:

  • Have a passion for capital markets and investment philosophy
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with multiple audiences over several platforms, and a desire to support client service and sales efforts
  • Have demonstrated data analysis skills and advanced Excel skills
  • Are capable of handling multiple tasks
  • Display dedication for improving and developing research (capital markets technology)
  • Are able to manage complexity and demonstrate nimble learning

Why Fisher Investments:
Fisher Investments is a different kind of investment firm. We don’t come from Wall Street, nor do we believe we fit in with most of the finance industry, and we’re proud of that. We work for a bigger purpose: bettering the investment universe. From unmatched service to innovative perspectives on investing, it’s the people that make the Fisher purpose possible. After all, it’s our people that enable us to offer the level of service that we do. And we invest in them accordingly, offering exceptional benefits like:

  • 100% coverage of premiums for health, vision and dental insurance
  • A 50% 401(k) match, up to the IRS maximum
  • 20 days of PTO*, plus 9 paid holidays
  • 8 week paid Primary Caregiver Parental Leave
  • And much, much more

We also provide a cumulative, continuous learning and development framework customized for every employee. This emphasis on personal and professional growth has yielded an award-winning work environment; we’re Great Place to Work Certified, and The Oregonian named us as a 2017 and 2018 Top Workplace.

But in the end, it’s not the perks that keep people here. They stay because they believe in our mission of service—our employees want to make a difference in an industry that can do better.

California employees accrue up to 17 days of PTO and 3 days of sick time per year.
