How Fisher Investments Helps with the Transition

Deciding if you should relocate for your next opportunity can be a tough decision; one deserving careful research to determine if the change fits your professional and personal needs. First, understand the entire package offered—such as compensation, medical and retirement benefits, and training and advancement opportunities. Take time to research the company’s history and future growth plans as job security is also a factor.

At Fisher Investments and our global affiliates, many of our current employees chose to relocate in pursuit of the immediate and long-term benefits we offer, and they have found fulfillment both in and outside of work. Below are some of the ways Fisher helps ease the process of relocation.

Recruiting Process

If you’re considering an opportunity that requires relocation, your Fisher Recruiter is a great starting point. They can provide insights about office culture, as well as what locals do for fun and where employees tend to live. Your conversations with Hiring Managers can help you better understand the role, the team, and if there is any support we can provide regarding a potential move. Once your decision is made, your Hiring Manager will be your main point of contact to answer questions you have leading up to your first day. Once you arrive, our Corporate Learning and Development team will support you through your first several months at the firm to ensure you have become acquainted with your team, your leaders, and other new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into your role.

Logistics & Support

At Fisher Investments, we work with many vendors that extend discounts to new employees to support a move.  Discounts vary by location, but may include price breaks with moving companies, storage units, local hotels, rental cars and even temporary housing while you decide where to settle. And since logistical planning doesn’t end when you’ve landed, many locations also offer additional discounts for services like childcare and pet services.

Office Locations

Future employees can take comfort in knowing that all Fisher locations have been thoughtfully selected to enhance quality of life. Some factors include proximity to an international airport for ease of business and personal travel, as well as sought-after residential areas and highly rated school districts. Most locations have favorable tax environments and are located just outside of metropolitan areas to create a balance between suburban life and the entertainment opportunities of city-life. Each office has a lengthy list of in-office perks specific to that location – these may include snacks, coffee, food trucks, dry cleaning, car detailing, exercise options and more.

Acclimation

New employees at Fisher take advantage of in-office training, networking, and collaboration to make acclimation easier. When you start, you’ll receive instructor-led classes to gain an understanding of the firm, our vision and values, and our client-first approach. Once complete, all new employees transition to role-specific training but will continue to have training support from our Corporate Learning and Development Group. Ongoing networking through training opportunities will always be available to you, like through our Global Shadow Program which connects employees with roles and groups new to them. Additionally, there are several Employee Resource Groups you may join to find colleagues with similar interests or backgrounds as yourself.

Moving for a new job is rarely an easy decision. Familiarizing yourself with assistance opportunities offered by your new employer can help with the transition and getting settled after this big change. Once you’ve moved, make the most of it! Get to know your new area and take advantage of opportunities to network and build a community for support. After all, your move is just the beginning of your exciting new life and a rewarding new career!
