Do you speak fluent variable, fixed, and indexed annuity?  Can you explain an income benefit rider roll-up off the top of your head? 


Look...annuities are a tool to help reach an individual’s financial goals. Unfortunately, using the wrong tool for anything can lead to ill-fated circumstances – especially a tool with such a long commitment. Where do investors holding an inappropriate tool turn for help? Who is able to work on these investor’s behalf to get them back on the right path? Up until recently an annuity investor’s only options were to pay the exorbitant fees or do a 1035 exchange to another potentially inappropriate annuity. The financial options were mostly limited, until now. Fisher Investments is pioneering a new option to help investors, and we need your help.


As an Annuity Counselor, you’ll use your excellent communication skills and in-depth knowledge of annuities to be an advocate for high-net-worth investors. You’ll work with our Portfolio Evaluation Group, to analyze how suitable their current annuity holdings are for reaching their financial goals. If appropriate, we can help them surrender their annuity, and upgrade their portfolio to a personalized, global, flexible approach. You won’t be able to help everyone. In many cases the cost of surrendering an annuity outweighs the benefit for the investor, but for those we can help, it’s extremely rewarding. They now have the opportunity for a portfolio that is more liquid and effective at achieving their goals.

From the outset, a dedicated Associate Annuity Counselor will help ensure you have the administrative, research, and practical assistance you need to be successful.  This will allow you to focus on building relationships and sharing your ever-growing expertise to help our clients (and prospective clients) make more informed decisions with regard to their investments.


Some of What We’ll Provide You

  • A strong investment education so you can provide prospective clients with information regarding other types of investment strategies such as those typically employed by Fisher Investments for high-net-worth clients
  • The ability to work closely with various internal departments to understand the financial situation of prospective clients and potential issues associated with the surrender of an annuity
  • Tools to investigate, analyze, and comprehensively understand the various features of prospective and current clients’ specific annuities
  • The opportunity to educate prospective and current clients regarding annuities, including a balanced view of the benefits and disadvantages of their specific annuity


Those who succeed in the role have their State Life & Health or equivalent insurance license because they’ve already been selling annuity products. You’ll become part of a Registered Investment Advisor—you’ll need your Series 65 designation in order to speak to clients, but we can help you obtain it. Those who thrive in this role embody flexibility and initiative—they can prioritize responsibilities and handle day-to-day changes in workload within this fast-growing business unit. As you can imagine, advanced understanding of annuities and riders, as well as excellent communication skills, are paramount.
