Network Engineer (2019-8175)

Camas, WA, United States
Information Technology

Job Description

It’s an exciting time to join Fisher Investments; we’re investing heavily in the future of our firm’s technology and information security. Our business is growing internationally, which emphasizes the need to build an unparalleled team that drives future global growth and scale through strategic solutions and continuous innovation.  We play a foundational role in supporting our firm’s diverse businesses, and we’re excited to continue solidifying that foundation as we add more talented technologists to our Technology team.

Our Technology Department is now seeking a highly talented Network and Voice Engineer to join our team. This position will be located in our Camas, WA, (near Portland, OR) office. This will be a contract-to-hire opportunity.

The Opportunity:

Do you feel like your work has purpose?

All of our IT team members know their work is important.  We’re a small enough shop that each team member plays an integral role in allowing the company to run smoothly. You will have a direct impact on serving our clients - and serving our clients is important, because we’re taking care of their financial well-being. It’s that one thing in their life that funds everything else — family, health, leisure… happiness.  Do you have that kind of impact at your current job?

Become a Network and Voice Engineer at Fisher Investments, and leave your mark every day.

The Day-to-Day:

You’re going to have access to a ton of great technology. Fisher Investments understands that we need technology to support what we do — IT is a business partner, not an expense center. Plus, you’re going to get a broader exposure to both Network AND Voice. You’ll get to build up your skillset in both and be an expert within our firm. There’s plenty of room for ongoing professional development, in fact, we encourage it!

Your Qualifications:

You’ll need some technical skills…

  • Comfort with voice network design and maintenance (Cisco Call Manager / Cisco Unified) Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity, QOS, video, and voice gateways
  • Knowledge of network protocols such BGP, EIGRP, and GRE
  • Understanding of network virtualization technologies such as VLAN, VRF, GRE, OTV, and MPLS
  • Knowledge of Cisco Nexus 7000/5000/2000 series of switches and Cisco NX-OS
  • Practical experience with security issues and access control mechanisms – firewalls, VPN, and NAC
  • In-depth knowledge of network monitoring using SNMP, Netflow, and IP SLA
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki wireless or F5 load balancers a plus

And you’ll need some good business skills…

  • Ability to communicate complicated IT information within the IT department and out to the rest of the business, adjusting to each person’s level of knowledge
  • Organization, delegation, cooperation and similar skills will help you manage projects as well

You will be a resource to the department and the firm—you’ll need to identify technical solutions to business problems and take them through implementation. Overall, you’ll need professional-level knowledge of Cisco network and voice products enabling you to design, implement, support, and maintain 24x7 network services, serving as one of the levels of escalation for network and voice issues.

You will be a technical owner on projects—management will rely upon you to keep our company running smoothly. Are you up to that challenge?

If you are ready to take your career to the next level, and make an impact at a great company, apply now!

Why Fisher Investments:

Fisher Investments is a different kind of investment firm. We don’t come from Wall Street, nor do we believe we fit in with most of the finance industry, and we’re proud of that. We work for a bigger purpose: bettering the investment universe. From unmatched service to innovative perspectives on investing, it’s the people that make the Fisher purpose possible. After all, it’s our people that enable us to offer the level of service that we do. And we invest in them accordingly, offering exceptional benefits like:

  • 100% coverage of premiums for health, vision and dental insurance
  • A 50% 401(k) match, up to the IRS maximum
  • 20 days of PTO*, plus 9 paid holidays
  • 8 week paid Primary Caregiver Parental Leave
  • And much, much more

We also provide a cumulative, continuous learning and development framework customized for every employee. This emphasis on personal and professional growth has yielded an award-winning work environment; we’re Great Place to Work Certified, and The Oregonian named us as a 2017 and 2018 Top Workplace.

But in the end, it’s not the perks that keep people here. They stay because they believe in our mission of service—our employees want to make a difference in an industry that can do better.

* California employees accrue up to 17 days of PTO and 3 days of sick time per year.
