The Opportunity:


The Digital Workplace Team Lead is a visionary, highly technical leader who will set direction and will re-imagine how Fisher Investments employees will use their productivity tools, devises and services. This position can sit in our Camas, WA, (near Portland, OR) office, our San Mateo, CA, (near San Francisco, CA) office, or our Plano, TX, (near Dallas, TX) office. This will be a direct hire opportunity.


A successful candidate will demonstrate proven ability to build strong partnerships and relationships with other teams in Technology, Security and with key business stakeholders in order to understand their requirements and to translate them into efficient and effective technical solutions.


The Digital Workplace Team lead must possess strong end user expertise across various platforms and technologies like VDI, Remote Access, Mobility, Communication/UC, Collaboration solutions including Cloud based productivity applications like Office 365, SharePoint Online, OneDrive.  The right candidate must be well experienced in setting and executing a digital workplace strategy and transformation with heavy focus on end user experience, challenging the status quo, leveraging technology trends and industry best practice.  Capable of driving technology innovation, developing and executing technology roadmaps and delivering measurable improvements and results.  Must have strong governance and security expertise in managing and mitigating risk through establishing effective controls, leveraging security related tools, establishing and implementing associate processes and procedures through effective and collaborative partnership to Fisher Investments Security Team.


The Digital Workspace Team Lead will demonstrate strong technical leadership in driving key solutions for workforce mobility, take into account remote offices, OSP sales needs, BYOD, including emerging solutions like Desktop as a Service.


Must possess expertise in implementing and managing the end-point operational analytics and end user experience monitoring solutions.  Must be comfortable defining key metrics and KPIs which will demonstrate efficient and effective utilization and consumption of end user productivity tools and services.  Must have experience interacting with Procurement as well as Service Desk teams to insure license compliance.  


The Team Lead will effectively manage the Digital Workplace team by setting goals, objectives, prioritizing projects and initiatives, conducting regular 1x1s, performance management and insuring proper staffing.


The ability to work a flexible off-hours schedule for planned and unplanned maintenance is required.


The Day-to-Day:

  • Own the end user technology, services and platforms, focused on delivering a seamless workforce experience accessing FI’s tools, apps and services
    • Desktop experience including HW platform, standards, roadmap, refresh cycle, security, management, Operating System standards
    • Desktop and application virtualization including VDI standards, application publishing, Citrix and associated hardware infrastructure
    • Messaging and Collaboration: front end capabilities to enable our customers to do IM / Chat, Video, Presence, Collaboration
    • SharePoint, End User Home Directories, OneDrive, cloud based solutions as needed
    • Email - including archiving, legal discovery infrastructure, integration with other apps, services, email AV, spam, encryption solutions
    • Collaborate with Engineering on a long term vision to leverage Cloud-based solution to achieve efficiency, cost savings and a seamless end user experience.
    • Collaborate with Networking to insure a seamless, efficient and secure use of Wi-Fi regardless of location
    • Collaborate closely with FI Security team to insure standards are well understood and proper controls are implemented, tracked and any deviation is quickly remediated.
  • Provide daily direction to unit staff. Ensures adequate staffing coverage.  Resolves escalated issues.  Makes recommendations on resource decisions.
  • Provides the Manager with high-level planning regarding the overall support structure of the team
  • Works with the Manager on the development of mission, services, and quarterly objectives for the unit with input from staff, customers, management and other IT groups
  • Measure and report on performance. Ensure all service-level agreements are met and objectives are achieved
  • Create internal communications tools to insure knowledge transfer within the team.
  • Capable of driving and executing technology innovations and roadmap
  • Ability to demonstrate business value of the technologies to clients and meet their expectations
  • Responsible for managing adherence to predefined SLAs and providing necessary reporting to executive team
  • Collaborate with Engineering Teams to gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems
  • Implement strategies for improving or further leveraging Infrastructure Systems
  • Acts a mentor to engineers, providing assistance, guidance and training as required
  • Deliver effective problem solving with an analytical mindset and taking end-to-end ownership to prevent and solve problems, anticipate and avoid problems and in taking proactive actions and optimizations
  • Identify areas for improvements proactively and lead the effort in standardizing the processes and procedures, streamlining, enhancing, and making processes superior and simple

Your Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Must have 15+ years’ experience in Technology, with 10+ years in end user device support, preferably in a financial service organization of similar scale and complexity
  • Strong end user expertise on platforms like VDI, Remote Access, Mobility, Communication/UC, Collaboration solutions, productivity apps like Office 365 etc.
  • Strong governance and security expertise and in managing risks for end users
  • Expert knowledge in Digital Workplace and/or end user device strategy and transformation with heavy focus on user experience, challenging the status quo, and with deep insight in to external technology trends
  • Strong Organization, Management and Conceptual Skills
  • Ability to lead and work independently
  • Expert knowledge of monitoring mobile and end user technology environments and solving availability, performance, and service level incidents
  • Demonstrated success in decision making, conflict resolution, communication and negotiation/influence skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and a willingness to lend a hand with any project
